Method

  1. 1Gently bubble tamarind + jaggery + 1/4 cup water + turmeric + salt 5 min till thick.
  2. 2Heat oil, crackle cumin-mustard, asafoetida.
  3. 3Pop chana dal + urad dal till golden; add peanuts; toast.
  4. 4Curry leaves and dry chillies in for 5 sec.
  5. 5Pour tamarind mix in, gently bubble 2 min.
  6. 6Toss cooled rice through; serve at room temp or pack for travel.
