The short version
The recipes are free to cook from, free to print, free to share with friends, and free to adapt for your own kitchen. The website itself, the photography, the editorial text, and the recipe collection as a whole are copyrighted. Don't scrape the site, don't republish recipes verbatim on commercial platforms without permission, and please cook with sensible care.
1. Your use of the site
You may use Desi Family Kitchen freely for personal, non-commercial cooking. You may print recipes, save them to your own devices, share recipe URLs with friends and family, and adapt the techniques into your own cooking. You may not scrape the recipe database programmatically, mirror the site on another domain, or republish the full recipe text on a commercial platform without our written permission.
2. Intellectual property
The recipe collection, editorial text, photography, illustrations, code, and design are © Bagason Group and the Bagason family kitchen, except where credited otherwise. Recipe ideas themselves are not copyrightable — what's protected is the specific written expression, the curation, and the trade dress.
3. User-submitted content
If you submit a recipe, correction, or comment via email, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, edit, and incorporate it into the cookbook. We will attribute family recipes by name unless you ask us not to.
4. Recipe accuracy
We test recipes in real kitchens and call out the substitutions that work and don't work. That said, ingredients vary in size and salt content, ovens calibrate differently, and a cook is the final judge. If something seems off mid-recipe, trust your instincts more than our text.
5. Nutritional information
Calorie and macro estimates are AI-generated approximations based on standard ingredient databases. They are not a substitute for medical or dietetic advice. If you are managing a medical condition (diabetes, kidney disease, allergies, eating disorder recovery) please work with a qualified dietitian.
6. Food safety
Cook meat, fish, eggs, and poultry to safe internal temperatures. Refrigerate leftovers within two hours. Discard anything that looks, smells, or tastes wrong. Be extra careful with raw fish, raw eggs, undercooked beans, and undercooked rice if you are pregnant, immunocompromised, or feeding a child under five.
7. Allergens
We flag common allergens (dairy, eggs, gluten, nuts, soy, fish, shellfish, sesame) but cross-contamination can happen, and ingredient labels change without notice. If you have a severe allergy, always read the package and ask the cook before eating a dish you didn't make yourself.
8. Limitation of liability
We provide the cookbook "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to a kadhi that came out wrong.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will bump the effective date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
