A blender, ripe watermelon and four minutes — this is the no-cook cooler we make on repeat through the hottest weeks. A pinch of black salt is the step most recipes miss: it pulls the melon's sweetness forward and replaces the salts you lose in the heat. Top with a splash of sparkling water for lift, and keep the mint coarse so it perfumes rather than overwhelms.

Method

  1. 1Blend chilled watermelon with lime juice, mint and black salt until juicy and smooth.
  2. 2Strain if you want a cleaner drink, or leave it pulpy for more fiber.

  5. 5Pour over ice and garnish with mint.
