Method
- 1Pressure cook rice + dal + veg + salt + turmeric in water — 4 whistles.
- 2Mash gently.
- 3Add tamarind paste, bisi bele bath masala, chilli powder and jaggery; gently bubble 8 minutes.
- 4Loosen with more water for a porridge-like consistency.
- 5Heat oil for tadka; crackle mustard, cumin, dried chillies, curry leaves, cashews and hing.
- 6Pour the tadka over; rest 5 minutes — Karnataka's iconic one-pot.
